Who we are

Hello! Kaixo!

I am Aratz, director and founder of Artatz Gallery, as well as an artist. I specialize mainly in drawing and painting, but I like to experiment with different artistic modalities.

Some time ago I felt the "inner call" to create a space to promote art and the connection between people in Durango (Bizkaia) and here we are. I am very excited about what is to come and I am looking forward to meeting you and to your visit to Artatz Gallery.
I am waiting for you at Kalebarria, 17, whether you are an art lover or an artist who wants to make your work known.

Here I tell you a little more about my professional resume:

I am Aratz Azpiri Maurtua, multidisciplinary artist and gallery owner, graduated in Fine Arts at the faculty of Leioa in the specialty of painting and I have recently completed the Master of Contemporary Technological and Performative Art. In my artistic career I have won several painting awards, having been awarded in several editions both in the Villa de Durango contest and in the Zintzilik contest in Amorebieta.

In addition to these, I won the competition Mural Painting of Berriz in 2010 which gave me the opportunity to make one of the most important works of my career, painting the fronton of the sports center of Berriz.

Now I am embarking on this new project, Artatz Gallery, which will give me the opportunity to show the public my art and that of other artists in the area, with a variety of disciplines and artistic styles. As well as to establish connections between people and promote the artistic sector in Euskadi and the Duranguesado area.
