“Spatial structures”

Architect, sculptor, printmaker, and photographer Eva Kareaga presents the exhibition “Spatial Structures.”

These are structures of symbolic interaction—relationships involving meaning, form, and spatial placement—in which the sculptural pieces create a network connecting both to one another and to the architectural elements of the exhibition space.

This body of work stems from the observation and analysis of the artist’s immediate urban environment—Algorta (Getxo)—and draws inspiration from local geological and architectural features. The work achieves a sense of weightlessness and clarity through a careful study of proportions, as well as by blending robust, opaque materials with delicate, translucent ones.

In her sculptures, Eva Kareaga combines various techniques and materials, using ceramics as a foundation due to its exceptional versatility. This medium allows her to create molds from natural stone erosion patterns or the textures of architectural elements, while simultaneously enabling her to explore geometric forms.
